Laboratory Head
Professor Peter Maitz
Professor Maitz, the Medical Director of the Burns and Reconstructive Surgery team, is an Honorary Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) for providing outstanding service after the Bali terrorist attacks on October 12, 2002. His group has become the ninth research group at the Institute. For the first time those studying burns at Concord will be able to pool their knowledge by working in the one laboratory.
Peter is recognised as an overseas trained specialist in the field of burns surgery by the Australasian College of Surgeons, registered as a burns injury specialist with the NSW Medical Board and certified as a specialist plastic and reconstructive surgeon.
